Cover crops, harvesting and storing winter squash, and the benefits of a plant-based diet.

Host Glen Andresen is joined once again by Jim Gilbert to talk about cover crops and the benefits they provide…and all for just pennies. Plus an essay of sorts by Jim on the benefits of a plant-based diet to you and the planet (and your pocketbook). And it will soon be time to harvest and prep your winter squash for storage...and we have tips.

As always, we'll have a new Plant of the Month (cover crops). And reminder, the Garden Stumper is back! The winner gets a free sharpening of a hand tool from Cully Farm Store in Northeast Portland! Plus, our Dirtbag Dictionary term is rhizo-bacteria. And, of course, what's annoying Glen this month.

Don't forget, if you have a gardening question, or the answer to the Garden Stumper, you can email us at thedirtbag@kboo.org -- we'll answer your question on the air during the next show!

The Dirtbag... Listen. Laugh. Learn.
