On this episode of the Gap, Tammy and Althea interview Hiba and Hayat, about their efforts to raise money to bring medications to Lebanon. Since the 'Beirut blast' in August of 2020 that killed 200, the country has not formed a government, and the economy has collapsed. One of the most pressing issues is medical care. Many basic medications and prescriptions are not available anywhere except the black market, and only then if you have American currency. If people need hospital treatment, they may have to go to a private hospital where you have to pay up front. Hiba lives in Beirut and her friend Hayat has helped to set up a fundraiser for Hiba to purchase medications in Turkey to distribute to her community. Find their Paypal link here.

Then, we move on to talk about the first week back to school! It's a nerve wracking time, COVID or no COVID, so we hope all the students, and parents of students are making it through. Plus we hear about the importance of blue jeans on the first day, and how Althea didn't know what the bell meant at recess in kindergarten so she just sat on the playground and cried. What else is new!
