The KBOO team is very excited to welcome Serena Imani Korn as Director of Underwriting.

Serena was a volunteer and an intern at KAOS Community Radio at The Evergreen State College where she supported their underwriting program. She comes with a strong background in radio production and multimedia journalism, experience in sales, a love for building partnerships and a passion for community radio.

Serena says:

"I am eager to become part of a unique and progressive radio station that emphasizes justice over the status quo. I am exceedingly passionate about community-powered radio and its fundamental role in achieving a more equitable community. My interdisciplinary multimedia training, deep commitment to ethical public media, and drive for growth make me a highly capable candidate for this position.

Like KBOO, I am unwavering in my devotion to representing the voice of the people and using public airwaves to broadcast the perspectives most often marginalized or forgotten by mainstream media. Community media is especially important in our current political climate, which threatens first amendment freedoms and communities most disenfranchised from the status quo. Where mainstream media only serves and reinforces the current system, KBOO’s dedication to “decolonize mass consciousness” creates a path to depart from this system and work toward a more just and equitable community. I am inspired by this mission and am driven to promote these values in any way I can."

Serena has a lot to offer and you can learn more about her on her website at http://www.serenaimanikorn.com/
