Congratulations to LOU WATSON

Congratulations to our Artist in Residence LOU WATSON who will spend her 20 hours studio time to developing a new soundscape based on the traffic patterns, signage and experience of driving the I-5.  The piece will be in three sections, played by a band, then a solo operatic section, followed with an a cappella chorus.

Earlier this year she was commissioned by Tacoma Art Museum to develop a score about the I-705, which is now a permanent installation at the museum.

Lou began researching the connections between roads and soundscapes when in 2014 she was awarded a fellowship with The Oregon Heritage Society, and spent six months researching the “Situational Aesthetics and Place‐Identity of NE Sandy Boulevard, Portland, Oregon”.

KBOO is thrilled to be able to help these pieces develop into a "sonic transposition of commuting experience" which is Lou's goal.

We'll be working in the summer, and keep a look out in October for the release party.
