The “Show and Tell Gallery” series hosts Featured Readers at 7 PM, & an OPEN MIC Reading at 8 PM at at Three Friends Coffee House, 201 SE 12th Avenue, Portland
EVERY TUESDAY:
In Salem: OPEN MIC reading at Brigadoon Books, 189 Liberty St., every Tuesday night from 6:30 to 9 PM. Maureen Clifford, Brigadoon’s proprietress, hosts the readings.
Bring 2-3 poems or one short story or two short short stories or 2-3 songs or 5-8 minutes’ worth of material to the courtyard of Brigadoon this and every Tuesday. The courtyard features a powerful sound system so performers can be heard can be heard throughout The Underground and the first floor of The Reed Opera House
THIRD TUESDAYS:
In Portland: Figures of Speech at In Other Words 14 Northeast Killingsworth St., Portland, OR 97211 7 PM. Featured and OPEN MIC reading on the third Tuesday of every month. Literary Games, Broadsides, refreshments and more. Hosted by Steve Williams and Constance Hall.
FIRST WEDNESDAYS:
In Portland: Featured Readings at Blackbird Wine Shop 4323 NE Fremont on the first Wednesdays of every month, 7-9pm. This show is 21 and over. Hosted by Julie Madsen.
SECOND WEDNESDAYS:
In Milwaukie: The Poetry Series Committee and the Ledding Library of Milwaukie are proud to sponsor the Fifth Season of the Milwaukie Poetry Series on the Second Wednesday of Each month at 7 PM, beginning September 14. The Pond House in Milwaukie, 2215 SE Harrison, adjacent to the Ledding Library. The series features established local poets reading their work. In Portland: Featured Readings at Mountain Writers Series at the Press Club-- 2621 SE Clinton, Portland, third Wednesdays of the month.
In Portland: 7-9 PM Featured & Open Mic Reading at St. Johns Booksellers, 8622 N. Lombard Street, Portland OR 503-283-0032, hosted by Tom & Margot Lavoie on third Wednesdays Signups before 7 PM. Spoken word is the focus, poetry, fiction, and non-fiction, but song, instrumental music, and other kinds of acoustic performance are welcome!
FOURTH WEDNESDAYS:
Verse in Person, (VIP) Featured (and occasional OPEN MIC) readings at the Multnomah County Library Northwest Branch, 23rd & Nw Thurman. 7-8 PM, co-hosted by Doug Spangle, Melissa Sillitoe and Barbara LaMorticella. Listeners are invited to cross the street afterwards for some refreshment with the readers.

EVERY SATURDAY THROUGH THE SUMMER:
Market Day Reading Series in the St. Johns Booksellers, 8622 N. Lombard, at Noon every Saturday through the summer. Curated by Dan Raphael. A market full of good produce, a bookstore full of warm people & good books, the beautiful St. Johns Bridge and Cathedral Park... Market Days are a great way for booklovers who also eat (and who doesn’t?) to spend pleasant and rewarding Saturdays.
EVERY SATURDAY THROUGH SEPTEMBER:
Lan Su Chinese Garden Poetry Reading Series at the Lan Su Chinese Garden in Old Town. As a part of the Scholars Art’s Month, Lan Su will host a weekly series of poetry readings every Saturday in September from 2-3 PM.
