Hi gang,

Welcome to Desolo Luna Vox Theatrum.  Think of it as an abbreviated but ongoing variation of our 2001 and 2008 Dada/Surrealism Festival, appearing in four-hour installments four times a year.  The shows will air on 5th Mondays from 8p to midnight which gives us 2 hours each show for FCC-challenging, mature, adult-themed material.

Dates for upcoming airings are:

March 30, 2009
June 29, 2009
August 31, 2009
November 2009
March 29, 2010
May 31, 2010
August 30, 2010
November 29, 2010

We will be using Theatrum to present new Dada-and-Surrealist-inspired events as well as to recycle and re-air the huge volume of material created (much of it unheard by many) for the 2001 and 2008 festivals.

As with the festival, we will try to give first priority to material produced specifically for the Theatrum and also strive for as much of it to be live as possible..  And as with the festival, we plan to be as egalitarian as we were with the festivals, interested in any and all submissions.

You are free to do pretty much anything you want, how ever you want to do it, as long as it stays within the Dada/Surrealist context of our show and won't get us lined up against a wall and shot.  You are welcome to do anything from a large, sprawling production with spoken word, music and sound effects (one of my future projects is to serialize an Iranian novel for the show) to appearing live on the show to do some short simple poetry or prose readings between the larger pieces.  Think of Desolo Luna Vox Theatrum as your playground.

As you can see from this email's heading, we have started numbering the group emails as we did with the festival so if you have any numbers missing you will know you have missed an email.  Let us know and we will resent.

We're also retaining some of the 4-letter coding for group emails that we used for the festival so you will know what you are getting and perhaps for better storage and retrieval on your end.

NEWS--which will be general Theatrum information as we move forward

TEXT--any newly produced radio scripts that are available for use which will be attached to that email in a pdf file

CALL--anything that producers are looking for in terms of actors, musicians, personnel or assistance, posting recording dates and times, etc.

PROP–-any projects that you have in mind where you are ready to reserve and commit to specific time on a specific show

PART--any websites illustrating the work of any of our participants ... your chance to show off

SITE--any websites which you discover in your research and wish to share with other participants

PLEASE SEND YOUR GROUP-INTENDED EMAILS TO THIS SITE AND LET US DO THE CODING, NUMBERING AND FORWARDING OF GROUP EMAILS FROM THIS SITE.

We intend to have the show as evenly balanced as possible between live musical-leaning performances which Sean Ongley will be producing and live/pre-recorded spoken-word-leaning programming which Richard Francis will be organizing.

Scripts are already in the pipe-line and will soon be arriving in attached pdf files, looking for performers, producers, etc. who want to pick them up and turn them into something on the air.  ALL of the scripts and poetry collections prepared for the 2008 festival, still quite usable, are available by going to www.kboo.fm, go to program directory, look up and go to Desolo Luna Vox Theatrum and then click on the blog tab.  All future group emails will also be added to the blog site.

You are not limited to working with the scripts you receive.  All they will usually represent are pieces which we would really like to see aired on Theatrum.  If someone has already laid claim to some aspect of producing the piece, that will be indicated in the email.

In case of some Theatrum-related emergency, feel free to contact Richard Francis at 503-240-6598.  If you have some piece of literature that you would like transformed into a radio-script in a pdf file, Richard Francis will be quite willing to assist you.

Scripts from works by Joyce Mansour, Aime Cesaire, Eric Basso and Sadegh Hedayat should start arriving soon.

Thanks for you interest and participation.  If you are aware of anyone else who you think might be interested in this on-going project, please forward them this email and encourage them to sign on to this address.
