KBOO is proud to co-sponsor this annual event, now in it's 27th year.

Each year the Skanner organizes an inspiring presentation honoring the work of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr, and highlights the good work of people making a difference in the community.  This event raises scholarship money for local high-school students who are seeking higher education.

This year's keynote speaker is Irma McClaurin PhD, a poet, anthropologist and author. McClaurin has written about the civil rights movement and women in Belize as well as editing an anthology of feminist anthropology. As an academic administrator, she co-founded and led the University of Minnesota’s Urban Research and Outreach Center, and is a former President of Shaw University in Raleigh, N.C. McClaurin will speak about Dr. King’s legacy in the digital age.

The Breakfast has moved to a new location for 2013.  Please note it will be at The Hilton Hotel's Grand Ballroom, in downtown Portland.
