Tuesday's (web) work is lost

If you posted anything to the website on Tuesday, chances are, it's not there now. Sorry.

 Hello dear comrades -

As you know, the website crashed in a big way on Tuesday night.... and it didn't come back up until Thursday morning.

The crash corrupted the website databases -- which contained all of the content on the website. According to Wikipedia, "The word corrupt (Middle English, from Latin corruptus, past participle of corrumpere, to abuse or destroy : com-, intensive pref. and rumpere, to break) when used as an adjective literally means utterly broken."

The website, when it came back up, was restored with a backup. The backup appears to have been done at some point soon after midnight on Tuesday morning.

If you have done any work on the website after the middle of the night Monday-Tuesday and before the website crashed on Tuesday night, please consider that work lost. It now lives at the bottom of the sea with the whale skeletons and the men with cement shoes.

I would really appreciate if you can recreate what you did on the website on Tuesday, and I'm sure our listeners and readers would appreciate it too.

Likewise, if I did work for you on Tuesday, please know that I am working to recreate it, and I hope to have all of the work that I did on Tuesday finished by the end of the day today.

And also -- automagic archiving is on hold for the time being.

Thanks, vj
