All-Day Solar-Powered Concert Hits Fernhill Park August 7th

On Saturday, August 7th, anyone and everyone are invited to come out to Fernhill Park in Northeast Portland for a one-of-a-kind concert event celebrating sustainability and local music.  Ecopalooza will feature a 25-foot solar powered stage on which a wide array of local talents will rock the crowd.  With no power from the city this event is truly “off the grid.” Best of all, it’s free!

Ecopalooza is a benefit show for two important local non-profits that do great work in our community.  Minority Information Outreach focuses on renovating old computers that would otherwise end up in landfills and placing them in the homes of underserved families.  Friends of Trees is a 20-year-old local non-profit that specializes in bringing people together to spruce up neighborhoods planting brand new trees.

Beginning at 11:00AM, Ecopalooza will be an all-day affair, wrapping up around 8:30PM.  Beyond the music, you’ll get a chance to learn about the non-profits that are being supported.  We’ll also have plenty of local food vendors and a beer garden featuring microbrews  by Off the Rail, a local brewery based in Forest Grove, Oregon.

The music spans all genres and is 100% local.  Rock, hip hop, pacific islands, blues, country, big brass and even a Beatles cover band are all on the slate.  We’ll also have several speakers between bands supporting the raising environmental awareness theme. Former Portland Trailblazer Michael Harper, who serves as event emcee, will keep things moving introducing the speakers and raffling off items that have been donated for the event.

Please tell your friends and join us August 7th.  The weather should be great, the music will be good and the sense of community will be powerful.  We hope to see you there!
