Tillicum Wawa Native show is now off air at KBOO.

I have really enjoyed being a co-host,co-producer on the native american show "Tillicum Wawa" on KBOO these last few years, along with Shusli, Eugene, Louisand our wonderful engineer - Kurt.  It's been a real pleasure and a fulfillment of my contirbution to the world and the Native world  in particular.

I've been volunteering at KBOO for 25 yrs off and on.Starting with John Talley on "Indian World" for 22 years. He was my mentor and friend. He  encouragement through my life. What a blessing to have know you all!!

I've made some really great friends!,I've learned alot about our "Indian World" and have enjoyed bringing you, along with the rest of our crew, some of the best and most up to date info on what is going on in our world.

Native news is blacked out on the three major networks- ABC<CBS<NBC! That is why Native programming is so important. Please don't hesitate to apply to KBOO to start a new Native program!!

And don't forget to go to the Powwows and bring your friends and family. It is important to keep us together and to show others that we are all still here!! oho

It is time for us  to move on.

Wado, thankyou,

Donadagohuhi , until we meet again!!Etsi Yona (freemamabear@yahoo.com)

sorry!

I'm sorry to hear that your show was cancelled.  I think that you should continue your work and maybe someone else will give the time to re-vamp and keep the torch lit!

Thank you for your encouragement!!

We hated to leave also. At least I must speak for myself.  We always tried to bring you , our listeners, good news, important news that one doens't get on ABC,CBS OR NBC.

Those 3 channels hand out the same spoon fed news stories , over and over , because that's all that they are allowed to air. We at KBOO are an "Independent "station, so we can say it as we see it as long as we follow the FCC rules. Which we do.

We are evaluated periodictly by a couple of people at KBOO and to be honest, they don't give alot of encouragement. Their review our shows from time to time and we always get negative reviews. Don't know why. Possilby  some antaganism there? To say it politly.

I am thinking of possibly starting a new Native show down hee in the Eugene area. I guess I just need some encouragement. And thank you for it.

The stations here only broadcast a certain distance, so listeners would have to listen on the computer- listeners who aren't local.

Thank you, Wado again and keep in touch. "freemamabear@yahoo.com.

Gonna miss you guys

One of my favorite shows, and IMHO one of the most important on KBOO. You guys made it personal, local and direct. Always informative, enlightening and very responsive, gentle and forgiving to callers -- I thank you for that.

Sadly, the replacement show (Wisdom of the Elders) is way too much like NPR/CPB for my liking.

'Til we meet again, Adios Amigos......

Jim

Thank you for your encouragement again!

Tillicum Wawa was a KBOO treasure.

Tillicum Wawa will not be easily replaced.  I don't know why it has gone off the air, but I know that there will be many disappointed listeners.  I am hoping that the hosts of the show needed more space in their lives for other exciting projects and that this is not a result of the recent controveries at the station involving programming changes.  I have never heard a program anywhere on community radio that so bravely and thoroughly addressed political issues that affect Frist Nations people, with opinions unfiltered by the perspective of the dominant culture of conquerors.  Thank you to all of the programmers who put long hours into making this show possible.  I will miss it so!

Thank you for your encouragement!! new
