WHAT WE'RE FIGHTING FOR NOW IS EACH OTHER: Dispatches from the Front Lines of Climate Justice

Hosts Celeste and Cecil speak with independent journalist and climate activist Wen Stephenson about his new book. In this book Stephenson tells his own story and offers an up-close, on-the-ground look at some of the remarkable and courageous people—those he calls “new American radicals”—who have laid everything on the line to build and inspire this fast-growing movement: old-school environmentalists and young climate-justice organizers, frontline community leaders and Texas tar-sands blockaders, Quakers and college students, evangelicals and Occupiers.

Van Jones: Facing the Facts, Standing in the Truth, and Working for Environmental and Social Change

Attorney, civil rights activist, and environmental advocate Van Jones spoke at Portland State University on October 28th as part of  Portland State of Mind and a kick off to Social Sustainability Month.

In 2012, Jones published his second New York Times bestselling book, Rebuild the Dream, which has evolved into a 21st century "think tank" that champions innovative solutions to fix the U.S. economy and uplift the next generation.

Host Sarika Mehta speaks with Deepa Iyer about her new book "We Too Sing America: South Asian, Arab, Muslim, and Sikh Immigrants Shape Our Multiracial Future." They will also discuss immigration and Syrian refugees.

The Devil's Chessboard: Allen Dulles, the CIA, and the Rise of America's Secret Government

Host Per Fagereng speaks with David Talbot about his new book, described by Lisa Pease as "an anecdotal biography of not just Allen Dulles but of the national security establishment that he helped create." Since the end of World War II, what some call the “deep state” has taken hold of the American Republic, stripping the citizens of meaningful control over national security issues, with CIA Director Allen Dulles playing a key early role.

Chris Hedges speaks with KBOO's Paul Roland about his latest book, 'Wages of Rebellion', and the state of the world today.

"In the face of modern conditions, revolution is inevitable. The rampant inequality that exists between the political and corporate elites and the struggling masses; the destruction wreaked upon our environment by faceless, careless corporations; the steady stripping away of our civil liberties and the creation of a monstrous surveillance system—all of these have combined to spark a profound revolutionary moment."
