The difference between investment in production and investment for extracting money.

Joe Clement reads from Andrew Sayers 2015 book, Why We Cannot Afford The Rich (available at the Multnomah County Library ). This excerpt offers a politically conscious interpretation of the term "investment" in everyday discussions of economic matters. Sayers distinguishes between "object-focused" investment, which actually aims at the production of useful goods and services, and financialized "investor-focused" definitions of investment that are about extracting money.
