The Great Game is 200 years old. It began as the struggle between the British Empire and Russia for control of Central Asia. It continued when the United States supported Islamic fighters against the Soviet Union in Afghanistan. Those fighters morphed into al Qaeda and Islamic State, and now there is evidence the US is using them against Russia and China.
