KBOO Youth of Color Production Internship

 

The KBOO Youth of Color Production Intern will be given hands-on experience and responsibilities relating to audio production and on-air broadcast. The environment is hectic, invigorating, fun, and collaborative.

The goal of our internship program is to provide a substantive, meaningful work experience. At the end of the Internship period, participants should have demonstrable production skills and a working knowledge of community radio within the scope of alternative media.

This is a 6 month paid internship focusing on fulfilling the KBOO-FM People of Color Caucus recommendations to advance opportunities and close disparities in the media and at KBOO. This internship is open to people of color attending college and/or under 30.  KBOO Community Radio is an equal opportunity and affirmative action employer.  This Internship pays $10,400 - 26 week term at 20 hours a week for $20/hour.

 

Youth of Color Production Internship Responsibilities

●     Select and prepare KBOO Content for national distribution using a variety of Digital Audio Workstations

○     Evening News with a focus on live interviews

○     Live music performances

○     Public Affairs programs

●     Upload KBOO Content to national platforms including but not limited to

○     Audioport

○     Public Radio Exchange

○     KBOO Website

●     Help Develop a Digital Content Strategy for Promotion of KBOO Content

○     Social Media Platforms

○     On Air Promotion

○     KBOO Website

●     Ensure content on KBOO Website is uploaded properly

○     Metadata

○     Copyright Compliance of images and audio

○     Correct Audio

○     Correct Playlists

●     Other Duties may include

○     Research on podcasting and other developments in community and public radio

○     Attend Operating Team and/or Staff meetings

○     Research and development of acknowledgement standards with Revenue Team

○     Support of and participation in regular Membership Drives

Skills and Qualifications

●     Must have excellent communication skills

○     Verbal and Written

○     Prompt response to emails and other written communication

●     Must have organizational skills

●     Must be consistently available for 20 hours per week

●     Must be able to work well without direct supervision

●     Must have experience with a variety of social media platforms and an understanding of social media etiquette

●     Must have experience with uploading digital content to the internet

●     Must be able to learn from feedback and critique
