Starting today and running through the weekend, the Columbia River Fellowship for Peace (CRFP) will host the “Challenging Robotic Warfare and Social Control” conference in Hood River, near the site of Boeing’s Insitu military drone complex in the Columbia River Gorge. The conference will feature many distinguished speakers and will conclude with a nonviolent protest at Insitu on the morning of April 19.

If you've been wondering where or how to recycle your scrap wood, yard debris, appliances, tires, furniture, reusable household items, metal, styrofoam, car batteries and computers, you're in luck: Tomorrow morning, the Kerns & Buckman neighborhood associations will host a Neighborhood Cleanup (open to residents from outside Kerns and Buckman as well), where you can drop these things off. The cleanup will run from 9 am to 1pm at 2625 E Burnside. Please note that they will not be able to accept curbside recyclables, hazardous waste, paint cans, batteries or garden pesticides.

Also tomorrow morning, a number of social and environmental justice organizations invite you to a forum on proposals to solving the climate crisis. Kristin Sheeran of EcoTrust will discuss Cap & Tax, or Cap & Dividend as alternatives to the conventionally accepted Cap & Trade. She'll speak at 10 AM tomorrow, April 17, at the First Unitarian Church at SW 12th and Main in downtown Portland.

Food Not Bombs puts Portland's wasted food to good use by serving hot vegan meals to the community. Tomorrow, Saturday, they'll be serving downtown at the Riot Elephant at West Burnside and Park. New volunteers are always welcome.
