Listen to the seventh update from the Peltier Justice Ride 2016

Wednesday, July 20 the Peltier Justice Ride traveled 300 miles from Missouri to Illinois, getting closer and closer to Washington DC. The colorful paintings of Leonard on some of the vehicles are still attracting attention and when the caravan makes a stop many passersby come to learn about his case and pick up a post card to sign and send to President Obama asking for clemency for Leonard Peltier.

KBOO reporters Christopher Francisco and Brent Georgeson have been on the ride since day one bringing us the voices of those traveling with the Peltier Justice caravan...

The riders are missing Diane who started the ride in Oregon but had to go home when her car broke down.

While they were in Kansa on Tuesday, Christopher and Brent made a stop by Haskell Indian Nations University and spoke with the director for the Haskell cultural center and museum, Jancita Warrington who spoke about the history of this boarding school that was transformed into a full accredited university serving over 100 Native students from all nations ever year.

Listen to yesterday’s episode on kboo.fm/peltierjusticeride to hear what Jancita Warrington, director for the Haskell cultural center and museum, had to say about Leonard Peltier and how his case can be used to teach new generations about the struggle of Native peoples in the U.S and to create tribal laws that protect their citizens against the federal government’s politically motivated actions against tribes and their members.

Today, the Peltier Justice Ride is making its way from Illinois through Indiana and will rest in Dayton Ohio tonight, but KBOO reporters Christopher and Brent have decided to make a detour to Cleveland to the Republican National Convention to investigate how the case of Leonard Peltier relates to the current presidential race.
