 Joe Clement reads Doug Henwood's commentary on the changing political landscape for the labor movement and considers classic pitfalls of American unionism, namely it's focus on electoral politics and workplace contracts. Doug points out that unions typically don't make common cause with the consumers they otherwise serve. Joe reminds listeners that he and Josh Eidelson considered this industrial strategy last year when AT&T was looking to merge with T-Mobile.
