Blackness and Education in Portland, Oregon
This May 23rd, Wednesday, the Black Studies Department and the Multicultural Center at Portland State University will be hosting the Black Bag Speakers Series, a regular event that occurs throughout the academic year that brings local community organizations and activists addressing issues relevant to the communities of Black people in Portland, Oregon. On the 23rd we will have Kevin Fuller from Bridge Builders, Mark Jackson from REAP (Reaching and Empowiring All People and Ray Shellmire from Self-Enhancement Inc.), who will be discussing their organizations philosophies and what they are doing to address the academic and social needs of Black youth in Porltand, Oregon. This event is in room 238 of the Smith Memorial building and goes from 12noon to 1:30. Free lunch is provided. All are welcome.
