CITIES COMBINING MOVEMENTS AND ELECTORIAL POLITICS

Bill Resnick and Brian Tokar discuss Municipalism and how to combine electoral politics with grass roots movement building to support a radical political turn. Brian Tokar is an activist, author, and a lecturer in Environmental Studies at the University of Vermont.  He is the author of The Green AlternativeEarth for Sale, and Toward Climate Justice.

He recommends Murray Bookchin's essays in The Next Revolution: Popular Assemblies and the Promise of Direct Democracy;  material from the city of Jackson, Mississippi; and material from the Institute for Social Ecology, including their upcoming seminar.
