Winners and losers of climate change: how people and industries are cashing in on a warming world.

If we continue to allow climate change to continue unchecked we are actually making the choice to adapt to a warming world that most of us do not want to fathom. Except for a particular class of entrepreneurs who see the catastrophes of climate change as an exciting market opportunity.

On this episode of Locus Focus we talk with journalist McKenzie Funk, who has spent the last six years reporting around the world on how we are preparing for a warmer planet. His new book Windfall investigates how people around the globe are cashing in on a warming world. Containing the resulting surge will be big business; some will benefit, but much of the planet will suffer.

McKenzie Funk's writing has appeared in publications including Harper's, National Geographic, Outside, Rolling Stone, Bloomberg Business Weekly and the New York Times. He is a founding member of Deca, a writers' collective formed to produce and market longform dispatches from around the world. Windfall is his first book.
