Bill Resnick talks with Jim Wallis - a self styled evangelical, founder and editor of Sojourners, a very ecumenical and interfaith journal. He has written ten books and helped organize big religious coalitions on immigration and gay rights, and has been attacked by Glen Beck and others as a dangerous Marxist. They talk about (1) the Great Awakening in this country with people who identify as religious “progressive ” (19%) now coming close to drawing even with those who call themselves “religious conservative” (28%), (2) the role of religious social justice passion in transformitory movements, and (3) the environmental and democratic contents. He discusses how the religious are involved in the current immigration struggle, and we might play the interview before or right after the final vote on the immigration “reform” now being debated in Congress.
