HalfManHalf is weird.  He doesn't do it like others; sometimes it's the boom bap, then again,  it could be hella bumped up to dubstep.  Lyrics are ALWAYS raw.  His DJ (which he ALWAYS rolls with) is OZ ROC, whose mean objective is to tear. up. turntables.   Check out the newest of the new with them, and Calvin Valentine- who is on everything!  I've got to get him in the studio!  The name of the new album is GLOW,  and this baby is dropping for FREE July 19th.  We happen to have the single "Satalites" for your listening/downloading pleasure right now tho.

Free Track from Myg's Newest Portland to New York Connection

So I run into Myg, or rather he picks me up.  Lunchtime is Pho time at a joint on Powell Blvd,  the kind that you have to be local to know about.   The waiter, in matching jean jacket, and jeans (?!?) knows him by name, as do a lone skater sitting by himself enjoying Pho.  A couple of other homies run in to give daps, simply because they saw his wrapped van,  heavy with miles as he is literally fresh off tour with Talib Kweli.     I say this because Myg is creating a musical legacy deep within this town, while traveling to Mars- never an easy task.

Myg's newest  "Northwest to New York Connection"  is mixed by Pete Rock.  Dropping this spring, it is an audio storyline to just how Myg progresses musically without losing his genius.   Production is done by Myg, Smoke, Architech, Dj Chill, and a slew of other folks.  Guest spots include Toni Hill, Sleep, Moka Only, Onry Ozzborn- just to name some!  And the production is ill- that bass line is prolly actually a bass being played.  Judge for yourself- He's letting me hit you with track!  Download, and enjoy!

Favorite albums this year - Shabazz Palaces - Black UP. 2nd up was BLU's - No YORK. I could've played every song off of each album and been happy.

Favorite Portland artists this year - TOPE, CLOUDY OCTOBER, MIKE CRENSHAW, SAPIENT, BROWN CAESER. Really though I've got love for ALL the portland artists. And if you got play on the SOUNDBOX by me or Deena B, then you are verifiably, CERTIFIED, PURE FIRE. Too many to shout out to - so dont take this as a diss.  Sorry Portlanders, I didn't get to most of the Portland Hip Hop tonight, I guess 2 hours wasn't enough to get it all in.
