Homeless and Formerly Homeless Portlanders to Set up Camp Along the Rose Parade Route
 
  “The city allows people to pitch up tents for pleasure, but they won't allow people to pitch a tent to survive.  This is wrong.” said Leo Rhodes.  "Homeless people are just doing human things, like sleeping, getting out of the rain, and resting."
                                                                                                                                            
WHAT:  Pitch A Tent for the Right to Survive, a public campout designed to raise awareness about the criminalization of homelessness in Portland and across the nation, and the creative solutions that can be implemented immediately to address this human rights crisis. 
 
WHO:  Right 2 Survive, homeless and formerly homeless community members, and supporters.  A delegation from Nickelsville in Seattle is expected.

Homeless Youth

Our regular meetings are the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at Sisters of the Road Café on Northwest 6th and Davis. Our next meeting is tomorrow!!!! We meet from 5 til 7pm. Food and phenomenal conversation will be provided.
 
This Saturday, April 16th, R2S is taking part in a Rally and March for Jobs and Benefits – NOT CUTS!!! We will meet at Pioneer Square at NOON. Look for our banner – in green n black – Right 2 Shelter, Right 2 Sit n Lie, Right 2 Sleep. Come march with us!!!
 
On Sunday, April 17th – Join us at the Law and Disorder Conference at Portland State University on 3rd floor of the Smith Memorial Union. The address is 1825 Southwest Broadway. Our workshop is called THE CRIMINALIZATION OF SURVIVAL. Members of r2s will talk about how they are being targeted just for carrying out survival activities and what YOU can do to get involved!!!! We will present from 1pm til 2:30pm in THE BALLROOM!!!!
