Hosts Wael Elasady and Will Seaman welcome Middle East scholar and author Toufic Haddad. Toufic Haddad is the co-author and editor of Between the Lines: Israel, the Palestinians, and the U.S. War on Terror (Haymarket Books, 2007) and Towards a New Internationalism: Readings in Globalization, the Global Justice Movement and Palestinian Liberation (Muwatin: Ramallah 2006.) He is currently a researcher at Birzeit Development Studies Center, while conducting his Phd field research in Development Studies at the School for Oriental and African Studies (SOAS) in London.

This week Wael and Will talk with students who've recently attended the Students for Justice in Palestine national conference earlier this month.  Daro Behroozi is a student at Columbia University majoring in anthropology and Tanya Keilani is a Palestinian American graduate student also in the department of anthropology at Columbia.  For the second half of the program, a live conversation with the Executive Director of the Israeli Committee Against House Demolitions, Jeff Halper.  Jeff Halper is wrapping up a busy speaking tour through the United States but agreed to talk about recent developments and a broad look ahead for the struggle.

One Land, Many Voices hosts Wael Elasady and William Seaman talk with economist Raja Khalidi about the Palestinian Authority's initiative at the United Nations for full recognition of a Palestinian state and economic development in the occupied territories.  Raja Khalidi is a senior economist based in Geneva with the United Nations who has worked extensively on Palestinian development issues.  Also on the program, selections of an interview with Columbia University's Edward Said Professor of Modern Arab Studies, Rashid Khalidi.  Rashid Khalidi talks about the PA efforts at the UN and also about the potential for genuine democratic reforms and significant improvement in the lives of the broader populations of the Middle East emerging from the Arab Spring.

Live interview and discussion with the Edward Said Professor of Arab Studies at Columbia University in New York, Dr. Rashid Khalidi.  We'll be talking about the history of the Palestinian struggle for self-determination and statehood.

Dr. Khalidi received his BA from Yale in 1970, and his D.Phil. from Oxford in 1974.  He is editor  of the Journal of Palestine Studies, and was President of the Middle  East Studies Association, and an advisor to the Palestinian delegation to the Madrid and Washington Arab-Israeli peace negotiations from  October 1991 until June 1993. He is author of Sowing Crisis: American  Dominance and the Cold War in the Middle East (2009); The Iron Cage:  The Story of the Palestinian Struggle for Statehood (2006); Resurrecting Empire: Western Footprints and America's Perilous Path in  the Middle East (2004); Palestinian Identity: The Construction of Modern National Consciousness (1996); Under Siege: PLO Decision-Making During the 1982 War (1986); and British Policy Towards Syria and Palestine, 1906-1914 (1980), and was the co-editor of Palestine and  the Gulf (1982) and The Origins of Arab Nationalism (1991).
