Hey, I'm playing lots of other terrific music this morning, including tunes related to, uh, well, um, rain, deep rivers, mudballs, and troubled waters. I trust you know where those came from...
Lotsa local music, too--so much talent here! Colleen Raney, Betsy Branch, Mark Douglass, John Standefer, Haris Blackwood, Blvd Park, Lincoln's Beard, Great Wilderness, and a new favorite of mine, Dan Weber. Listen in again on Monday, February 6, when I have Dan in the studio to give us a live performance. I, for one, can't wait!

I'm bringing you a whole stackful of my favorites this morning in an effort to usher your new year in with just the right tone. There's a set or two more or less related to "time" since at this time of year, the passing of time is on our minds, and one with a river theme as I resolve to get in a big dose of river kayaking this year--so good for the soul.
Gosh, I hope you're enjoying this!
Musically,
Diane

Dear Listeners,
Did you enjoy the range of music this morning? From the hip indie singular voice of Sallie Ford to the melodious strains of Dave Morrison, from tender seasonal music--Bruce Cockburn's "Cry of a Tiny Babe"--to a rough and tumble song about a horse. There were some famous musicians among the bunch as well as a handful of talented, up-and-coming as-yet-unknowns. Some fun stuff--"When You're Single at Christmastime"--and some serious stuff--"Mighty Close to Heaven." Lots of voices sprinkled throughout by pretty instrumentals, from the flavors of south of the border with "Saguaro" to music with an Irish bent from Colleen Raney. It's a treat to put this music together for you--thanks for being there to hear it.
Warmly,
Diane

Where else on Earth are you gonna get such apropos music first thing this fine morning? Remember, this is YOUR radio station--if you're a KBOO member, that is. And if your name doesn't find itself on our membership rolls, uh, change that...

Dear Listeners,
What a total absolute treat for you this morning--all this great new music from all these wonderful and wondrous and talented and creative musicians--all gathered at the Folk Alliance conference this past weekend in Eugene.
I become more and more aware of this everyday: that music can change and heal this troubled world. Support the musicians who work long and hard towards this goal. Go see them live, buy their CDs, tell your friends about them, and tell the musicians themselves that you appreciate their music. That's an order.
Warmly,
Diane

re: new music
Hey there - I love this show, can't really get by without it!
I want to just share some music I really think could be included here, if you haven't heard:
Eddi Reader - formerly with Fairground Attraction, legendary Scottish singer whose Songs of Robert Burns changed the way people heard these songs and established her as living treasure in Scotland. Her new album Love is the Way is gaining raves in the UK. Myspace.com/eddireader - you can hear some samples.
Kate Rusby - probably Britain's most important young folk singer - Awkward Annie is her most recent album and astonishing since she writes most of the material herself. Chris Thile and Eddi Reader are both featured artists on the album. www.katerusby.com.
It would be wonderful to see them here in the US, but just getting them on the radio would be a start!
Thanks and keep up the awesome music!
Doug Smith
Hi Diane,
I'm listening to your show and was pleasantly surprised to hear our pal, Doug, doing "Anything Goes". I'll have to tell him he got some airtime when I see him next. Your voice sounds great on the air and your playlist rocks! Keep up the very good work, my friend! Tell the management they need to give you a raise.
;-)
Diane Hunt
This is Randy from Colorado, and I *loved* the show! Quirky mix of music is just right to start my day out right. Diane, when are you going to teach me how to contra dance?
Thank You
Dear Randy,
Yikes! Only today did I see your kind email from September 22 that you left on the KBOO website. I wasn't expecting any "fan mail" here at kboo.fm so I didn't thing to check...until a friend told me about the hundreds, nay, thousands of emails piling up at this website all about my show. Oddly enough, only one (yours) was positive. All the others said something to the effect of "what the *&^!%&# is SHE doing on this venerable radio station!"
That's ok.
I can take it.
So, Mr. Randy, you liked my quirky music? Hope you heard my show yesterday morning (October 27). It, too, was filled with a wide variety of, uh, good stuff. I'm on again on Monday, November 24th. I do hope you'll tune in. I'll play a randy tune, just for you.
I'm pretty big into contradancing, so I have made it my mission to play at least one contra tune each show. Next time you swing through P-Town, I'll give you a lesson. You won't ever be the same again...
Um, is this my friend who goes by the name of Randy in Colorado? You know, the Randy with the beautiful wife and the two red-headed kids? If so, thanks, my friend. If not, you, stranger Randy, have just finaigled yourself into the most elite fan club on Earth...
Warm regards,
