Dr. Zomb and Rich L. in an informal telephone chat with Otis Fodder and Sir Mildred Pitt of The Bran Flakes.
The Bran Flakes have been crafting insanely upbeat songs since 1998, utilizing the cool and strange thrift store sounds we all love so much and making absurdly cheerful and danceable music. They have released seven full-length albums and have made countless appearances on compilations, as well as touring with a lively stage show.
The Bran Flakes - who are touring with the Evolution Control Committee - will be appearing on July 3rd at The Rotture (315 SE 3rd Ave., Portland OR) at 9pm.

I guess this show came out okay despie the fact that I had to fill out the Sound Exchange form while slinging discs. The music programmers are required to do this for two weeks four times a year to satisfy some draconian internet rigamarole... It involves not only logging each artist, song title, and album, but the start time, end time and song length of every damn thing you play. For a dj like me who is making it up as I go, spending this much time writing really cuts in to the actual djing!!!

I have a personal backlog of archived show MP3s that stretches back to around 2005 or so. There are some gaps in the collection (due to vacations, etc.) and a few are lower quality due to a bad stereo, but they're still a blast to go back and listen to..
I don't know what KBOO's policy is regarding such recordings, but I'll gladly make them available to the station if they don't already have an archive.
