Volunteers Keep KBOO Connected to Community!

KBOO brings the voices of our communities to the air with live broadcasts from celebrations, events, and cutting-edge lectures. Being able to respond to opportunities to broadcast from around town affords our listeners around the world the chance to be in touch with an exciting event.

Thanks to the generous support of our members, we were able to update our equipment. This has allowed us to vastly increase the number of live on-site broadcasts over the last year. But it takes more than modern, nimble equipment to make an on-site broadcast compelling radio- it takes the considerable skills of caring volunteers who are announcing, producing, and engineering the sound, all working together in a tightly knit team.

John Trudell "The Spoken Word" Fri U of O Eugene Oregon 8:00pm

We, at "Tillicum Wawa", are excited to announce the arrival of John Trudell to our State of Oregon!!!!

John Trudell will speak at 8:00 pm, Fri., Jan 11,2013, at the U of O's Columbia Hall, Room #150, Eugene Oregon.  It is close to the Long House on Columbia Ave.& 15th st. For info from NASU, call 541- 346-3723.

NASU will be presenting him along with the "Eagle Butte" drummers to open.

It is a FREE event and I'm sure will prove to be electifying and full of information with a good dose of humor, and helping people to see that we, Native Americans, are all still here, alive and well.!!

Do you want to get to know some wonderfully creative and committed people?  Do you want to learn new skills? Looking for a way to give back to your community?  Volunteer at KBOO!

Did you know that there are about 500 volunteers who participate in KBOO, on and off of the air, to make us the best dang station around? KBOO volunteers make up a very diverse, dynamic, and engaged community. They are the people you hear on the air, and the people who make things work behind the scenes. Volunteers staff outreach tables, write news stories, host on-air programs, fix headphones, set up live music, download and upload programs from and to the internet, and so much more.

Eugene and Sushli will return on "Tillicum Wawa" next show Thurday!!!

Eugene and Sushli, co-hosts of "Tillicum Wawa" will return next Thursday show!!! They were sorely missed on the last show dedicated to the appreciation of the overwhelming response by our listeners, to our coat and warm cloths drive for the kids on the Pine ridge Reservation in So Dakota!! We will continue to keep you all informed as to when and how the cloths are getting shipped ,by God's grace, to the children.!!!!

It was so great of our many listeners to really care about the plight if the children on the US Governments' rez lands.

I kow that when all the people really see what is happening on the rez's of this country, they will come together , once again, to see that the proticol for the rez's will change for the better! OHO

KBOO is fortunate to have the people power of about 500 volunteers contributing their talents and energies to do just about everything here. There are dozens of roles for volunteers, including investigative news reporting, audio production, spinning fantastic music, engaging in community outreach, greeting people at the front desk, and maintaining the building, to name but a few.

This month, I want to highlight the contributions of Linda Olson-Osterlund, the host and producer of “A Deeper Look”, airing on the 2nd and 4th Thursdays at 9:30 am.

Volunteers work round the clock to bring KBOO to life.  There are about 500 volunteers who add their energy to this great community radio station.  About half of our volunteers contribute to on-air programming, while the rest concentrate their time on the behind the scenes activities that are essential to our existence.

KBOO's volunteers come from many different communities, each adding their skills and passion to the entire station- making us what we are today!
