Prison Abolition & Prisoners' Health
Adam Carpinelli will interview members of Critical Resistance (CR). CR is a national grassroots organization building a movement to abolish the Prison Industrial Complex (PIC). CR currently has chapters in New York City, Los Angeles, Oakland and Portland, OR. Chapter projects range from fighting policing in working class communities of color, to community education projects, to grassroots campaigns to oppose prison and jail construction. What unites all of these projects is a commitment to working for the eventual elimination of the PIC. Prisoners suffer from poor conditions inside and in turn have different health issues. Prisoners like Mutulu Shakur have provided acupuncture to other prisoners and there will be an event in Portland on February 7th that will raise funds for Mutulu.
