We believe the role of 'great art' is to reflect the struggles and will of the masses. Great art holds a mirror up to society, and critiques those who control society's narrative. It may be visually (or aurally) pleasing, but great art is always going to make you think.
This evening we're going to be focused on film, and its reflection of the varied African experiences. Amidst all the films which pathologize or narrow us into a monolith; more recently we've been seeing films such as 'Moonlight' and 'Get Out' garner a lot of attention. However, there have been a number of films over time which told our stories with clever satire and social commentary.
We are excited to be with Keller Henry for this conversation! While we took a break from doing radio, Keller briefly did a show of her own. We miss having her on the air, so it makes us happy to share this moment.
