The Melting Pot Radio Show - Winter Pledge Drive Special

This week on The Melting Pot Radio Show we focus on local folks who have taken the initiative to create their own destiny. We will be focusing on 3 main members of the community 2 are authors and one is a Dj and event/music producer.

Shanita King and  Nikki Daskal They will be talking about the new Guided Meditation coloring book Journey Into Heart  which they co produced and recently published.

Do you want to have an artistic or creative outlet in your life but find yourself holding back? Or maybe you are too judgmental or hard on yourself? Having trouble getting your creative juices flowing? Interested in incorporating spirituality and healing in your artistic endeavours? If you answered “yes” to any of these questions, then this book is for you!

We are passionate about meditative arts! Incredible shifts occur when we are grounded, centered, and open to receive with an open heart and mind. The guided meditations that come with this book help you center yourself as well as open your mind and heart to enjoy your creative projects without attachment to outcome and deepen your practice of self-love!

Journey Into Heart has been a dream of Shanita’s for over two years. We thank everyone who so generously donated via the book’s GoFundMe page from the bottoms of our hearts. Shanita and Nikki also share gratitude for Lauren Rosedale, who supported the making of this book with her incredible editing skills and emotional support. To everyone who encouraged us and inspired us to continue working, even when we felt that maybe it couldn’t be done, thank you!

Joseph Lewis:

Black Search & See started as something for my neice and nephew because I was concerned about the lack of exposure they were getting to black people who have done amazing things throughout history and even today. So I created something that will not only exercise and stimulate their brains with fun word-search puzzles, but with something that will send them on a journey to discovery Black Excellence. Black Search & See was created by Joseph Lewis, a current graduate student at George Fox University, studying Family Counseling. Originally from Los Angeles, Joseph moved to Portland in 2012 for a journey of self discovery. https://www.amazon.com/dp/1790362857/ref=cm_sw_r_cp_awdb_t1_d2YaCbDW893NN

It's that time of year again and we would like to take an opportunity to give back to a community in need this holiday season. All proceeds from this event will go directly to the Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence! (OCADSV)

Mission statement:
The Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence (OCADSV) promotes equity and social change in order to end violence for all communities. We seek to transform society by engaging diverse voices, supporting the self-determination of survivors and providing leadership for advocacy efforts.
Statement of Equity and Inclusion

The Oregon Coalition Against Domestic and Sexual Violence believes in the right of all persons to live their lives without fear, abuse, oppression and violence. We appreciate the diversity made possible by race, ethnicity, gender identity, ancestry, place of origin, color, citizenship, religion/spirituality, sexual orientation, age, marital status, family status, political affiliation and ability.

We engage in an ongoing process of analysis that sees all systems of oppression as interrelated and work to challenge the power structures that legitimize them and perpetuate injustices. We conduct education about the impact of the various oppressions. We examine and improve practices, policies and protocols, on an ongoing basis, to ensure compliance with this statement and encourage and enable member programs in their equity and inclusion efforts.
