Government shutdown

Is the U.S. a functioning democracy? Good question. Our government has shut down over the issue of Obamacare. On the one hand, the shutdown is a matter of economic power -- as the New York Times reports, the shutdown has some very rich, very well-connected backers. On the other hand, the fight over the Affordable Care Act could be described as the latest battle of the Civil War. Abe and Joe try to untie this peculiarly American knot.
