Author Martín Prechtel -- "The Smell of Rain on Dust: Grief and Praise"
Why is it that grief is something we usually experience alone, in private, without the support of a community? How can we do it differently? What is the relationship between unexpressed grief and social, cultural, and individual maladies? How do we find hope, solace, and courage in living through our losses? Author and poet Martín Prechtel, trained in the Tzutujil Maya shamanic tradition, shares his insights on how we can be healed from the trauma of loss, war, and suffering, through an understanding of the connection between grief and praise. The Smell of Rain on Dust: Grief and Praise, or this "little book," as the author calls it, can at base be seen as a companion of encouragement, a little extra light for those deep and noble parts in all of us.

Martín Prechtel resides inNew Mexico  and teaches at his international school Bolad’s Kitchen. "Martín Prechtel is one of the most profound teachers I have ever encountered. He is an unusually gifted artist, musician, storyteller who guides and initiates with passion, kindness, eloquence, wisdom, fierceness and humor, awakening us to the sacred realities present everywhere at all times. To be with Martín is to remember the forgotten divinity that is the very essence of who we are." —Aryeh Hirschfield  For more information visit: www.floweringmountain.com
