Peace & Justice Works / Portland Copwatch celebrates their 20th Anniversary

Join hosts ani and Lyn as they talk with Portland Peace and Justice Works / Portland Cop Watch organizer Dan Handelman, and long-time peace activist Ann Huntwork, how things have evolved in the movement over the last two decades.

Since 1992, these groups have organized events that have built coalitions, and mobilized people into action. Where do organizers see things going from here?

We'll also talk about the celebration to mark this occasion, being held on Saturday, July 21, 7 PM at The Peace House, 2116 NE 18th (at Tillamook), Portland.

Bread & Roses welcomes female coming-of-age novelists from Austin, TX.

Bread & Roses welcomes women writers from Austin, TX:  Dawn Erin, author of The Iron Horse, and Mary Pauline Lowry, author of The Earthquake Machine.  These female coming-of-age novels push the boundaries of the genre to the extreme; the kind of raw stories that adolescent girls have always relished and parents have feared.

Dawn Erin's The Iron Horse, tells the story of young Sunny Quinn, a gifted Saddleseat Equitation rider who endures a childhood of drudgery, abuse and catastrophic personal failure, and finds relief in blues music, first love, and a full blown heroin addiction.
