But until recently, scientists and environmental officials have assumed that deep layers of rock beneath the earth would safely entomb the waste for millennia

EAT & RUN: My Unlikely Journey to Ultramarathon Greatness is Scott Jurek's 1st book. 

Jurek has been competing in ultramarathons (races longer than a marathon, 26.2 miles) since 1994, and in 2010, set the U.S. record for greatest distance in 24 hours: 165.7 miles.

During his first book tour in June, Scott Jurek stopped by KBOO to talk with Mel Reslor on his transition from omnivore to 100% vegan, training and preparing for ultramarathons, and what kind of person would enter a 100-mile race...

Erin Yanke interviews Mark Baumgarten, author of the book Love Rock Revolution: K Records and the Rise of Independent Music. Carlos Chavez interviews Dr. Jennifer Woolard and the topic is Juvenile Incarceration and Reentry in the Context of Adolescent Brain Development.

Dr. Woolard is an assistant professor at Georgetown’s department of Psychology. She is a developmental and community psychologist who dedicates her time to researching youth, police, criminal activity and community. She’s also active in a number of dynamic organizations that address juvenile justice, youth empowerment and adolescent and community development.
