With a spate of police violence incidents hitting the headlines, the Independent Police Review Division is soon to come under a microscope for how it investigates complaints against Portland law enforcement. Portland Copwatch/Peace and Justice Works staffer Dan Handleman lays out issues with Portland’s police review system and answers questions about what citizens can do. Lisa Loving hosts.

Host Jenka Soderberg interviews Monadel Herzollah of the U.S. Palestine Community Network and founder/president of the Arab American Union Members Council and Rebecca Tumposky, U.S. chapter organizer for the International Jewish Anti-Zionist Network. They were in Portland last week demonstrating how Palestinian and Jewish activists can appropriately work together for human rights without giving an appearance of normalcy or parity of suffering. Their appearance was sponsored by Al-Nakba Awareness Project and Advocating Freedom, Justice & Equality in the Holy Land.

 Tonight we are looking back at Portland History, and listening to rememberances of the House of Sound, a record store that was cultural and community space for the African American community. The building was knocked down in 2009. 

We have interviews with Clifford Walker, Mel Renfro, Ken Dickson, and David Dawson, and play exerpts from Yugen Rashad's 5 hour tribute that aired on KBOO Feb 14, 2009, which featured David Dawson, Cleo Smith, Billy Holt, Woodrow Wilson, Jr., Keedah Giannetti, and Wone.
