Black Panther Class

Each monday night for the past eight weeks, people have gathered at Portland State University to learn about the history of the Black Panther Party.
However it is not a regular, for-credit class.
It is a free class offered through Students for Unity, and it is open to the public.
This week, the class focused on the death of Fred Hampton.
Hampton was the deputy chairman of the Illinois Black Panther Party that was killed by police in 1969.
KBOO’s Maggie Starr spoke with Dominic, who leads the class.
That was Dominic, who leads a class in Black Panther History at Portland State University on Monday nights.
Next week, the class will focus on law enforcement’s drive to disrupt, discredit, and destroy the black panther party.
Monday, May thirty-first will be the last class in the series, and it will focus on the Portland Black Panther Party.
