Posting to AudioPort and Radio4All

Radio4All (http://www.radio4all.net)
This site is free to use, but you might think about dropping them a donation since they are a non-profit, anarchist group similar to indymedia and they can always use more funding. To use the site, you must agree that anyone can listen to or re-broadcast your audio for free (see terms of use policy).

1) Create an mp3 file of your audio (an mp3 is a small-storage audio file). There are several programs you can use to convert audio to mp3 format, including the free editing program Audacity, iTunes (also free to download and easy to use), Adobe Audition, etc.
2) Create an account for yourself on the right side of the Radio4All Web site (you can be anonymous if you're into that).
3) Click "add programs" and follow the upload instructions (begin by clicking "choose program" and finding the folder on the computer where you saved your mp3.) Click “upload.”
4)  Be patient. It may take a while. Even if your computer is fast, Radio4All is pretty slow. Make a sandwich. Read a book. Don't ask the computer to do a lot of other things while uploading.
5) Once your file has uploaded, you will be taken to a form to fill out about what it is, who to give credit to, how other people can use it once they download it, etc.
6) 6) If you choose to upload multiple files under a series title, Radio4All will automatically create a podcast for your series.

AudioPort (http://www.audioport.org)
Audioport works pretty much the same as Radio4All. It is free to use, but is only accessible by Pacifica stations and their volunteers. This means the public at large will not be able to access your work on AudioPort, but other Pacifica stations can download it and play it to their listeners. The first time you sign in, you'll  need to use the generic KBOO account and then create your own personal account. Choose KBOO from the pull-down menu of stations and use the following password:Cg72Ts. Once you are in, you can create your own account with your own personal username and password. Uploading instructions are exactly the same as Radio4All. There will be a terms of use agreement. AudioPort will also create a feed/podcast for multiple shows uploaded under the same series title.

How To Initially Sign Up For Your AudioPort Account:
1. You will find the Create Account Page by clicking on “Login/Create Account” link on the right hand side of the home page. When you get to the Login/Create Account, in the bottom half of the webpage, you will see “Create Account: Step 1”.  Select your station (KBOO) from the menu and enter the station password.
2. The Program Archiving and Distribution Agreement: you must accept this agreement to use the AudioPort. The main points are that your programming: does not infringe on any third party’s copyright, patent, trademark, etc.; complies with Federal, state, local laws; doesn’t slander, libel, or defame; contains no pornographic materials; etc. After reading the terms, click the “I agree” button below to accept the terms, and move onto the next step.
3. Provide your Account Information: The email address you provide will serve as your AudioPort account login name. The email you supply here will also be used to send any system confirmations from the AudioPort (ie, if you forget your password, the AudioPort will send you your password to this email address). Here is where you can create your own password that is not the same as the station’s password (you will use this to login in the future). You will need to enter it twice for confirmation purposes.
4. Additional options: You can provide the “Name of Person or Group” (ie: “The Food Show” or your on-air name if it’s different from your real name). What you put here will be displayed, under the title “producer”, next to all of the programs you post. You can also enter a Web site, which could be your personal site or KBOO’s Web site. You are encouraged to link back to http://www.kboo.fm whenever possible.

Note: you can edit your account information by going into your workroom after logging in. If you have any questions or need help see http://www.audioport.org/help or email web[at]pacifica.org.
