47. Committee Membership

COMMITTEE MEMBERSHIP

KBOO has four committees that advise the Board: Program, Finance, Personnel, and Development.  The committees meet monthly, and, with certain exceptions, are open to the public.

Committee members include at least one Board member, one staff member, and any KBOO member who wants to become a committee member and attends three consecutive regularly scheduled monthly meetings.  The secretary of the committee must verify KBOO membership and attendance at three consecutive regular meetings for a KBOO member to become a committee member, which begins with the fourth meeting attended.

There are three ways to become a KBOO member: by paying annual membership dues of at least $20; being on staff; or volunteering at least 24 hours annually to the station.  To be a KBOO volunteer, you must be interviewed by the Volunteer Coordinator, go through Volunteer Orientation, and be assigned specific tasks by staff.  Unless you are a committee member, attendance at committee meetings does not count as volunteer service.

In the case of the Personnel Committee, which hears appeals of grievances, no committee member may participate in an appeal unless they have been a member throughout the appeal and have heard all the evidence.

Committee members may be removed for cause according to Robert's Rules of Order or by personnel action.
