KBOO shall not knowingly promote (i.e., sponsor or co-sponsor, or actively promote tapes of) talks, performances, or appearances by anyone whose values are inconsistent with those stated in the Programming Charter. However, in keeping with the value of free expression stated in the Programming Charter, KBOO shall treat a request for air time by that person in the same manner as a request by anyone else. In the case of a controversy about a particular speaker, the Public Affairs Director, and, in the case of a performer, the Program Director, shall consider an on-air debate or other appropriate format for discussion.
When considering whether to sponsor or co-sponsor a person's appearance, or actively promote their recordings, the Development Director shall consult with the Public Affairs Director in the case of speakers, and the Program Director in the case of performers, who shall have authority to veto the Development Director's decision to promote. Any person shall be permitted to appeal the decision to promote or not promote an individual to the Board of Directors.
