David Cay Johnston on Health Care Inequality

Health and Health Care Forum
David Cay Johnston talks with Roberta Hall about his new book,  DIVIDED. The Perils of our Growing Inequality, and about his 40-plus years as an investigative journalist. Through his career, which includes winning the 2001 Pulitzer Prize for uncovering loopholes in the US tax code, he has focused on public policies that have produced the sharp economic division between the super-rich and everyone else. The edited work includes a major section, Health Care Inequality, with six chapters (one by Johnston himself), but health impacts of growing inequality appear in other sections as well. Along with a few well-known and well-loved authors of the past, such as Studs Terkel, authors such as Elizabeth Warren, Richard Wilkinson and Paul Krugman present hard data and current perspectives. The program was recorded May  7, following Johnston's talk at OSU titled "Rich, Poor, or in the Middle: Why Inequality Matters for You." The Oregon Center for Public Policy, and the OSU School of Public Policy sponsored his talk.
