On Monday, May 21st, at noon, there will be a Washington County Public Affairs Forum. The title of the forum will be Sustainability and going Green in Oregon; Could Oregon Have an Economic Advantage? Citizens for Safe Water will discuss the Impact of Global Warming on the Willamette River. Also speaking will be Andrea Durbin – Executive Director of the Oregon Environmental Council. Monday, at 7pm, you can come to an OMSI Science Pub for a free discussion entitled, The Magic and Mysteries of Water. Water is ubiquitous in our world. It covers most of the Earth’s surface and constitutes most of the human body. Join the Science Pub for a conversation about the magic and mysteries of this elixir of life. Also Monday, at 7 pm, If you want to enhance your personal connection to community and nature, you can join a Naturalist Skills Community Night by Cascadia Wild, where folks get together and learn some aspects of naturalist skills, like fire-making, animal tracking, basketry, edible and medicinal wild plants, and much more. These gatherings give everyone an opportunity to meet folks, learn stuff, and have a lot of fun. This week they will discuss Street Yoga and have an introduction into Meditation. And Tuesday at 7pm, the Proper Eats Vegetarian Café will have the next film of their weekly First Amendment Screening series, where they will be showing An Islamic History of Europe, a BBC TV production that traces many familiar aspects of European (and American) life and traces them to their origin in the Islamic world.
