Hepatitis C Awareness Day at the State Capitol Galleria
Marks Hepatitis Awareness Month Observance in Oregon
At least 65,000 Oregonians have been infected with the hepatitis C virus (HCV). Yet many remain unaware of this life-threatening, infectious disease. The Hepatitis C Caring Ambassadors Program (HCCAP) is hosting Hepatitis C Awareness Day at the capitol building in Salem to bring attention to the public health emergency posed by hepatitis C in Oregon.
Hepatitis C Awareness Day is part of the month-long observance of Hepatitis Awareness month as proclaimed by Governor Ted Kulongoski.
The day’s events will include a 12:00 P.M. reading of the Governor’s Proclamation of Hepatitis Awareness Month. Booths with hepatitis C awareness and educational materials will be presented by HCCAP, the Oregon Department of Health, the Hepatitis C Awareness Project, the Harm Reduction Center, and others.
