Team Portland Tennis - Rose City Open XX Charity Tennis Tournament
The Rose City Open is an annual Tennis Tournament held Labor Day weekend Sept 4-6, 2010, hosted by Team Portland-Tennis Association since 1991. TPTA is a tennis group serving the gay, lesbian, bisexual transgender community of Portland. All proceeds collected from this year’s tournament will benefit three local charities: Cascade AIDS Project, Portland After School Tennis & Education, and Q Center. 2010 will mark the 20th Anniversary of the event and we plan to mark the occasion by making this year's tournament our biggest and best yet!
The tournament is open to adult tennis players of all levels and will have draws for both men, women (singles and doubles), and mixed doubles. All skill levels are offered, so anyone that wants to play, from a beginner to highly advanced tournament players may participate. Spectators and volunteers are always enthusastically welcomed as well! The main tournament site will be the Portland Tennis Center, located in near NE neighborhood within the Lloyd District. Matches will also be played at Glendoveer Tennis Center in NE Portland. Registration deadline is August 23, 2010. Spectators are also welcome.
The Rose City Open is an international tournament, historically, having hosted over 120 participants hailing largely from the Portland Metro area, but also drawing significantly from Washington State, British Columbia, and nationwide coast to coast.

Who is Team Portland Tennis Association (TPTA)?
TPTA is proud to serve the Portland Metro area in promoting tennis in the gay and lesbian bisexual and transgender (GLBT) community. We are Portland Metro's only tennis group representing the local GLBT Community. TPTA has approximately 100 active members who participate in friendly social play every week at Glendoveer Tennis Center in Northeast Portland. We also maintain an active email list comprising over 300 players. Through social and friendly competitive play, we strive to create a supportive atmosphere for sports enthusiasts in the community. Several of our members are multi-sport athletes, who also participate in other GLBT community sports organizations such as Portland Gay Volleyball.
