taking action against foreclosure...

several weeks ago we spoke with alicia jackson and ahjamu umi (via telephone) about the damaging effects of foreclosure on communities in portland.  they will be coming in the studio, live and direct, to speak further on the issue; as well as discussing several upcoming actions regarding foreclosure resistance.  there are several local organizations which assist people who are in the midst of foreclosure.  'occupy northeast- the black working group' is one of these organizations, in which the specific focus is to help African people fight being evicted, and to encourage people to remain in their homes.  since they will be here live, alicia will be able to tell her story more in-depth, and you will be able to call in (503-231-8187) with any questions or comments!  if you are facing foreclosure and would like to tell your story, we would love to hear from you.

during this show we will discuss, amongst many things, the national fair housing alliance study which states African people are more likely to be foreclosed on and less likely to have those homes maintained than european homeowners.  we will also discuss certain cities (such as chicago) which have a moratorium on foreclosures; other cities like San Francisco are looking into it.
