LGBTQ Health Survey Results & All about Testosterone

On the April 20th episode of Gender Blender co-host Jacob Anderson-Minshall speaks with the Multnomah County Health Department representatives about the results of the 2009 LGBTQ Speak Out survey.  The health survey gathered data from 843 respondends in the Portland metropolitan area, in order to educate health providers and policy makers developing a comprehensive agenda for wellness in the LGBTQ community.  Learn what factors attributes to health within the LGBTQ community.

Then Jacob talks with organizers of All About T: Testosterone for FTMs, a two-hour workshop, Friday April 23, 6-8pm at the Q Center. Providing an overview of the practical use of testosterone for those on the FTM spectrum--whether long transitioned or just beginning the journey--the workshop will be led by John Otto, a trans activist who has worked for the National Center for Transgender Equality and is a member of the National Gay and Lesbian Task Force  LGBT Aging Roundtable.  The workshop is sponsored by Tranz Guys PDX.

Gender Blender co-host Laura Calvo is in Washington, D.C. this week, where she’s up for an award from the International Foundation for Gender Education. Never one to rest on her laurels, Laura’s spending the week meeting with congressmen in support of ENDA and she'll  be calling in to give us an update on her work.

As usual, Gender Blender will also feature music by trans musicians.
