Implementing the Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) to Facilitate Positive Clinical Results
Description
Susan Davis, MA, LAc
7.5 CEUs
Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) is the application of physical “tapping” pressure at points along selected acupuncture channels. Negative emotions often prevent Qi from sustaining its circuit of flow through the channels. The basic premise of EFT is that such emotional blocks can be neutralized by the tapping process and meridian pathways will, thereby, be cleared. This theory is not new to practitioners of alternative medicine who understand that when an emotional trigger is activated in therapy, a patient’s neurological response may be altered. Positive changes following application of EFT are often reflected in live blood cell analysis, MRI and EEG results.
Although it is not psychotherapy, EFT can stimulate a gentle unraveling of beliefs, events and thoughts that have prevented an individual from living a full and satisfying life. When patients face emotionally limiting or physically painful situations, a practitioner using EFT can assist them in achieving a healing breakthrough. Chronic pain, addictions, phobias, allergies and unhealthy life style may all be implicated in systemic or degenerative disease. EFT has successfully initiated positive changes in all of the above conditions when patients have been non-compliant with other treatment methods. EFT is particularly effective when a patient reaches a progress plateau or is slow to respond.
In the morning session, Ms. Davis will present basic information concerning what the EFT technique can accomplish and how best to perform it. Seminar participants will observe Ms. Davis demonstrate application of the technique for several complaints. The afternoon session will focus on in-class work in pairs practicing the hands-on technique. Practice in pairs will include observation and critique of procedures by seminar instructor. Seminar will conclude with in-depth discussion of clinical situations where EFT can be used. There will be ample time for questions and clarification.
Please note: due to length, registration will begin at 8:00 AM and the presentation will start promptly at 8:30 AM.
