KBOO Raises Over $10,000 for Haiti
On February 18th, 2010, KBOO Community Radio in Portland, OR dedicated 13 hours of airtime to fundraise for Haiti relief efforts, due to a rare FCC waiver that allowed us to fundraise for organizations on-air. The last time the FCC allowed this was after Hurricane Katrina, when KBOO also raised funds on-air. 100% of the money raised during this time on-air and on-line is being contributed to four Haitian-led organizations.
Our Soil - a non-profit organization dedicated to protecting soil resources, empowering communities and transforming waste into resources in Haiti.
Honor and Respect Foundation - The Honor and Respect Foundation was created to raise awareness and financial support for Haitian grassroots groups based in poor communities dedicated to achieving social justice, universal education, participatory democracy and economic self-sufficiency.
HACAOT (Hatian and Caribbean American Organization of Texas)- advocates for and educates the Haitian community and all members of the Caribbean community on civil and human rights issues such as race, nationality, labor, immigration housing and finance.
