Come with Us on an Enlightening Journey Where Past and Present Collide
Between 1938 and the outbreak of the war, almost 10,000 children were sent by their parents from Nazi Germany to Britain to 'safety and security'. Most never saw their parents again. Diane Samuels play, Kindertransport weaves the story of 3 generations of women whose lives are intertwined when 9 year old Eva is sent from Germany to Manchester as part of the Kindertransport rescue effort. Kindertransport propels its audience back and forth through time illuminating the hidden consequences of one girl’s journey away from the horror of the Nazi regime and everything she calls home.
The stellar cast of six features Drammy Award winner Michele Mariana, and includes Patricia Hunter, Jack Wells, Heidi Hunter, Kate Mura and Doren Elias. In an effort to generate community conversations nightly talkbacks are planned with a diverse range of speakers and audiences will be invited to share their experiences.
Friderike Heuer’s photomontage Fugue: Exile, Emigration and Displacementwill be showcased at the theatre throughout the run and on Monday nights there will be free satellite programming.
