 Raving Dove, an Oregon-based nonprofit literary journal that espouses nonviolence, has launched the Raving Dove of Hope Award, a nonfiction essay competition open to all Oregon high school students, all grades. The theme is the importance of nondiscrimination as it pertains to sexual orientation, gender, race, or any other form of discrimination and bigotry. The grand prize is $800, publication at Raving Dove, and publicity. Two honorable mentions will each receive $100, publication at Raving Dove, and publicity. Three merit award honorees will win publication at the journal. The Raving Dove of Hope Award has been made possible by a grant from Equity Foundation, located in Portland, Oregon. There is no entry fee.
