Janus Youth Picket
Portland has gained a reputation as a west-coast hot-spot for sexually trafficked youth. Late last year, Mayor Sam Adams announced that the city would provide almost three hundred thousand dollars to fund extra services for sexually trafficked youth. The majority of the funding has gone to Janus Youth Programs, the City's largest organization providing support to at-risk youth.
But this week, employees of Janus Youth who are undergoing contract negotiations are picketing the organization. They claim the organization is wasting much needed funds, as well as alientating its workers. Evan Tenenbaum brings us the story.
